Melanie Thomas 

Melanie Thomas, BEd, MSc

​

Melanie Thomas currently teaches in the Physical Education Department at Lillian Osborne High School, teaching Sport Medicine, Sport Performance and PE. She owns Mel Thomas Performance, a high-level skating development company focused on ringette and hockey player development, and is the current Team Canada Skating Skills Coach for ringette.

 

Mel has been a multi-sport athlete all of her life. She played competitive ringette, baseball, and hockey along with a variety of school sports. With ringette, she competed for Team Canada and Team USA at several World Championships, as well as professionally in Finland.

 

Melanie earned a Bachelor of Education from McGill University and a Master of Science in Athletic Administration from Grace College. Her Capstone Project was focused on, “how to increase female participation in sport.”

 

She previously taught for 6 years at St. John’s School in Vancouver, BC, where she grew to become the Head of the Physical Education Department and the Athletic Director.

 

With her knowledge and experience, Melanie strives to empower athletes in their pursuit of greatness and to power what they do with who they are.
